Cancellation & Billing Policy

1. Subscription Plans & Pricing

SafeTea offers one paid tier:

All prices are in USD. Your subscription gives you unlimited access to SafeTea+ features for the duration of your billing period.

2. How Billing Works

Auto-Renewal

Your SafeTea+ subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. By subscribing, you authorize us (or Apple/Google, depending on your platform) to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.

When You Are Charged

Receipts

You will receive a receipt via email for every charge. Web subscribers receive receipts from Stripe; iOS and Android subscribers receive receipts from Apple and Google respectively.

4. How to Cancel

You can cancel SafeTea+ at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you will not lose access immediately.

Web Subscribers (Stripe)

  1. Sign in at getsafetea.app
  2. Go to Settings > Billing
  3. Tap Cancel Subscription
  4. Confirm cancellation

You will receive an email confirmation immediately.

iOS Subscribers (Apple App Store)

Apple manages your subscription. To cancel:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad
  2. Tap your name > Subscriptions
  3. Tap SafeTea+
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription

Android Subscribers (Google Play)

Google manages your subscription. To cancel:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app
  2. Tap your profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions
  3. Tap SafeTea+
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription

What happens after you cancel: You keep full SafeTea+ access until the end of your current paid period. After that, your account reverts to the free tier. Your safety data (trusted contacts, check-in history, etc.) is not deleted — you can resubscribe anytime to restore full access.

5. Refund Policy

General Rule

SafeTea+ subscriptions are non-refundable for the current billing period. If you cancel, you will not receive a refund for unused days — you simply will not be charged again.

Exceptions

3-Day Cancellation Window (Select U.S. States)

In accordance with the laws of certain states (including California and New York), you may cancel within 3 business days of your initial subscription and receive a full refund of your first payment. This right applies to your first subscription only — not renewals.

Apple and Google Refunds

If you subscribed through the iOS App Store or Google Play, SafeTea cannot process your refund directly.

6. One-Time Purchases (Photo Checks)

Photo verification check purchases are non-refundable. These are digital goods that are consumed upon use. Unused checks remain in your account and do not expire.

If you believe you were charged for a check you did not use (e.g., due to a technical error), contact support@getsafetea.app within 30 days.

7. Payment Methods & Processing

8. Failed Payments

  1. Grace Period (Days 1-7): You retain SafeTea+ access. Your payment provider will retry the charge automatically.
  2. Notification: You'll receive email or push notifications to update your payment method.
  3. Downgrade (Day 8+): If payment is still unsuccessful, your account is downgraded to the free tier. No data is lost.

To restore SafeTea+, simply resubscribe. Your previous subscription data and settings will be restored.

9. Price Changes

If SafeTea changes the price of SafeTea+, we will provide at least 30 days' advance notice via email and/or in-app notification.

If you do not wish to continue at the new price, cancel before your next renewal date.

10. Account Suspension & Termination

If SafeTea suspends or terminates your account for a Terms of Service violation, no refund will be issued for the remaining unused period.

If you delete your account while a paid subscription is active, your subscription will be canceled at the end of the current billing period. No automatic refund is issued. To request data deletion under CCPA or GDPR, contact privacy@getsafetea.app.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via email or in-app notification at least 14 days before they take effect. The current version is always available at this page.
